Handwritten notes: This is a juicy type tripel with a pleasant back o' the throat bite and a sweet alcohol fade. A punchy-punch head swimmer. I would like to drink like 6 of these and then try and paint a bowl of fruit. It would likely end up being a doodle of a giant robot fighting a tank and Ernie taking bong hits.

Handwritten notes: Aww, nice. That old strange yellow fruity taste and peppery finish. Every once in a while when you get down in the mouth about life, and you find yourself lacking the energy to tie your shoes and you find yourself getting up from your recliner to get 2 beers (both for yourself), throw a tripel down your neck. Liquid Prozac, pals.

Handwritten notes: This is the kind of style that would taste like crap if it was below 7% ABV. This beer has a complexity whose true nature can only be revealed behind the woolly comforter of numbing liquid depressant. What? I love coriander and the way it plays in white beer, but I taste none of it here. But bless you, your ancestors, and your descendants New Belgium for busting a Trippel into this hackneyed market. The only thing missing is a Duvel-like sea scum foam head.

Handwritten notes: Having not read the bottle prior to sipping, I got a shocking surprise as the alcohol content takes front and center. The smell is marvelous - a crazy menagerie of fruit of the pear/peach variety. The taste itself has more of a spice-like quality, the old mincemeat standard. It is no champagne, regardless of what Mr. Bell says. It is, however, perfect for a sunny Sunday evening, making the setting sun glint just a little brighter and prettier. I am also retuning to work tomorrow after more than a week off, and this beer is the perfect well into which I might drown my sorrows.

Handwritten notes: Woo-ha, this bugger delivers a left-hook to your addled brain. A doughy and fruity tripel worthy of nobility. It's interesting to note the deepening complexity of these Affligem beers as the ABV notches upwards. A warming fizziness descends upon the cranium and the flavours linger on the palate with a clovey-spiciness. Chaka Khan!
