Handwritten notes: I am usually not a fan of spiced beer, but in this case I'll make an exception. The whole thing I can take away from this Black Oak company is that they use huge flavours and balance them as well as the finest craft brews. This number has a sort of white beer flavour (coming no doubt from the coriander and orange peel), but there is a lingering bitterness and acidic tartness you don't find in whites. Bravo, encore, and all that jazz.

Ahh HAA!

What'd I tell ya. It sneaks up on you like a velvet hammer. All soft and yummy.

Best Saison I've ever had and makes me want to explore the style even more now that I've had one that doesn't taste like wet newspaper from the long haul over the pond.

Cheers to you. PS. I take no reponsibility whatsoever for that piece of shit Bud Lite Lime a few beers above.

Dave :)

The brewmaster from Black Oak testifies as follows in response to my request that he ship to Manitoba:

"We have a small problem about getting our beer out of province.
we keep on running out of it, Stupid customers keep on drinking the stuff.
Very hard to keep up with local demand."

My kind of guy.

I think as long as the flavours are as large, or larger than life, I am down with the Saison.

And, Dave, as far as the BLL, I distinctly recall you saying "here, Brad, this is the best beer I've ever tasted".

No, that's I lie, I can’t blame my tasting that on anyone. T'aint nobody's fault but mine, as they say.
