Handwritten notes: For some inexplicable reason this beer has an apostrophe-s after Schell, whereas the others didn't. I guess not a lot of people can say "Schell Stout" five times fast. This is exactly what I was expecting with no embellishments and no surprises. Certainly not a beer for sitting in the evening shade, though. The roast coffee/caramel/dark chocolate is all there. As good as any and every other stout I can remember.

And with that, my terrifying ride through the American beers I purchased is through. It's been a wild couple or three weeks. Thanks, America. Next time you execute a man to show him how wrong it is to take a human life, I won't be so hard on you. I'll miss your cheap beer, your nearly tax-free tobacco, your flavourless Coca-Cola, but most of all, I'll miss your smile.
