Label Reads: "First brewed in 1996, August Schell's Pale Ale is not a traditional beer for a brewery steeped in German heritage. nonetheless, we hope you will enjoy the flavour and aroma of our East Kent Golding hops, along with the full bodied flavor of our blend of European and American malts. Enjoy the great taste of Pale Ale from America's second oldest family-owned brewery".

Handwritten notes: I have a half-dozen other reviews to post, but this one needs to be done now. I spent this evening biking around on my "lake-bike" comfort cruiser (two gears, forwards and brake) through the late spring twilight. Arriving home, I poured a glass of this Pale Ale and lit a Cuban cigar on the balcony, watching he purple clouds flit by. Is there such a thing as a perfect beer at a given time? Realistically, I know this is a standard American P.A. It was strongly hopped, bitter as all get-out. The perfect beer for this moment. A white Ale, a stout, even a lager would not do the trick. Aah!
